Hertha BSC makes a mega loss

Second division soccer team Hertha BSC almost made a triple-digit million loss in its 2022/2023 relegation season.

As the club announced at the general meeting on Sunday, there was a deficit of 99.1 million euros for the outsourced professional department after the past season. This is almost 20 million euros more than the year before.

Managing director Thomas Herrich was nevertheless optimistic about the future, as most of the restructuring measures following relegation had not yet been reflected in the balance sheet. These include player sales, job cuts and a reduction in rent for the Olympic Stadium.

Accordingly, Herrich is expecting a consolidated annual result of around minus 30 million euros for the current season.
