Shorter contract duration when relegated
In 2020, Hertha BSC made Lucas Tousart a record purchase for a fee of 25 million euros, the French midfielder should help lead the capital club into the Champions League. Three years later he could play “premier class” in the Olympic Stadium, albeit in a Union Berlin shirt. Loud “table football“-Information, the 26-year-old is about to change to the “Iron”, an execution is “in sight”.

Accordingly, they have agreed on a fee that is linked to performance-related bonus conditions. If these are achieved, the transfer fee could increase to between 6 million and a maximum of 7 million euros. In addition, Tousart’s Hertha contract should not be valid until 2025, but only until 2024 – as a result, the negotiating basis for the relegated worsens.

For Union, Tousart would be the seventh signing of the summer and third for midfield. Thanks to these transfers with a total market value of 75 million euros – including Tousart – the “iron” would then increase their squad value to 183 million euros.
On the Hertha side, where it is still a matter of accommodating the top earners like Tousart with other clubs, eleven departures have been recorded since relegation. Most recently, center forward Krzysztof Piatek, who was signed in 2020 for €24m and is now moving to Turkey for Basaksehir FK on a free transfer. Recently it was said that Tousart could also move abroad, but the rumors about a move to SSC Napoli became nothing concrete.
