Contract expires
In addition to double goalscorer Fabian Reese, Nader Jindaoui was also a celebrated man after Hertha BSC’s victorious cup game in the round of 16 against HSV (8:6 nE). The 27-year-old attacker made his first professional appearance and seems to have secured a place in the first team for the time being. His contract ends after this season, but could be extended. How “Sky” reporter Patrick Berger reports, Hertha has an option for another year.
Jindaoui moved from the regional league team Berliner AK 07 to the Berlin U23 in the summer of 2022 as an experienced leader and has played 34 games there to date, in which he scored eight goals and six assists. On the 15th matchday of this second division season he was promoted to the professionals, his premiere against HSV. And on Saturday he was called back into the squad for the league game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern (2-1). It is questionable whether a longer-term role in the first team is planned for Jindaoui.
“Nader is already 27 years old. He’s now coming out of no-man’s land and is taking a great path. Nevertheless, he must not take the place away from any young player here,” said coach Pál Dárdai on Wednesday. “My job at Hertha is to train the young players, grow them up and create values. Nader has to understand that too.” Jindaoui does not have a professional contract with Hertha, but according to the report he wants to sign such a working paper with the capital club. Otherwise, a move to Saudi Arabia or Qatar could become an issue. So far, the Berlin native has only been active in Germany in his career.
