I really don’t know what he’s supposed to do with us. For one thing, we have no need for him in the first team. On the other hand, his claims are now determined by our second team. Will very likely result in a loan and then a transfer in a few years. I can’t imagine that he will play many games with us.
Well the obligation took place in January where he was a 4th league keeper. It wasn’t clear that Hitz wanted to leave either. Unbehaun’s contract hadn’t been extended at the time either, etc.
Bürki and Hitz are gone -> Meyer was brought in as an experienced player.
Unbehaun was extended because he simply would not take a place for the UCL & you are currently losing one with Drljaca in the U23 who shared the spot 50/50 with him.
And since Lotka was only the 4th division keeper at the time, they wanted a duel with the U23s.
Since Lotka signed this contract himself, he knew what to expect. The fact that he’s been helping out in the BL since then doesn’t change the plans, if you’re offered a duel in the U23, he won’t expect to be back-up behind Kobel especially since he wants to play at that age.
Then the 3rd league is also better than the 4th league. If he does well, he can leave, no one in the U23 will stay with the club forever.
So why was Lotka brought? Because you need more keepers after some have announced their departure.
