Hertha BSC: FC Basel brings Anton Kade on a free transfer – Transfermarkt

U19 National Team Player

As reported by Transfermarkt for the first time in mid-May, Anton Kade is moving from Hertha BSC to FC Basel 1893 for the new season. According to the top Swiss club, the 18-year-old left winger has a contract until 2026. Kade is free as his contract with the Berliners expires on June 30th.

Basel’s squad planner Philipp Kaufmann said of the new signing: “At just 18 years old, Anton Kade already has a lot of experience, including four appearances in the 1st Bundesliga. He has received excellent training at Hertha BSC over the past 10 years and will mainly support us on the left wing. We are very pleased that we were able to retain a young, talented player with a great mentality for the long term.”

Kade himself said: “I had a lot of good conversations with David Degen and his team, in which they gave me a plan on how they want to develop young players. In the past, the club has shown often enough that it promotes and develops young talents – and that is of course my personal goal: I want to develop further at FC Basel and help the team to achieve their goals.”

With the Swiss runners-up, the competition on the wings is significantly lower than in the German capital, and the prospect of playing time is therefore much higher. On Matchday 23, Kade made his debut in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig (1:6) as the eighth youngest player from Hertha, followed by three more brief appearances. He had previously impressed in both the U19 Bundesliga and Hertha regional league teams. In 2021/22, Kade will have seven goals of his own and eleven prepared goals in 29 competitive games.
