The reports about the internal dispute at the Bundesliga club Hertha BSC, which is threatened with relegation, do not stop. On Wednesday afternoon, the major investor Lars Windhorst spoke up personally to defend himself against the latest reports about him.
What happened? A “Sport Bild” report recently said that Windhorst had met with Hertha’s sports director Fredi Bobic for a secret meeting some time ago.
Among other things, Windhorst is said to have made a promise not to make public negative comments about Hertha BSC at least until the desired relegation in the Bundesliga.
He is said to have broken that promise last weekend when he publicly called for the overthrow of club president Werner Gegenbauer.
The 45-year-old Hertha investor did not want to leave the accusation in the media report that he had broken his word on Wednesday. There was never such a verbal assurance that he would no longer comment publicly on sporting or administrative issues relating to Hertha BSC, Windhorst explained via Twitter.
“The claim that I promised at a meeting with Fredi Bobic that I would not speak publicly about Hertha until May is fabricated and a lie. I can and would never give such a promise because I am for transparency, openness and against backrooms ‘ the Tennor Holding shareholder wrote on social media.
He is “very affected” by the type of debate that Windhorst believes is currently being practiced by the media.
In truth, at the time of the meeting with Fredi Bobic, an interview date had long been agreed with “Bild” in which “of course” it was clear that Hertha BSC would be involved.
In an interview with “Bild TV”, among other things, the tough statements against President Gegenbauer were made.
