Hertha BSC: 200 million package before completion?

After months of hanging up, the new investor 777 Partners at Hertha BSC is apparently about to get involved. The cash-strapped Bundesliga side beckons an immediate financial injection in the millions.

As the “kicker” reports, citing sources from the management level of Hertha BSC and the business environment, the investor deal is to be officially completed at the beginning of the coming year.

According to this, 777 is given more say at Hertha BSC than the previous investor Tennor around Lars Windhorst – in compliance with the 50 + 1 rule and the club’s statutes.

With the signing of the contract, 35 million euros are to flow to Hertha BSC as emergency aid. These are very convenient for the clammy club, especially since the licensing documents have to be submitted to the DFL by March 15th.

The total volume of the investments should be 100 million euros. It is said that the topics of consolidation and restructuring played a major role in the negotiations between the parties. Allegedly, the payments to Hertha BSC are also linked to the achievement of savings goals.

Windhorst millions fizzle out at Hertha BSC

According to the report, 777 takes over Windhorst’s 64.7 percent stake in Hertha-KG and increases it by a further ten percent. The total package in question is said to be 200 million euros. Windhorst will probably also get a stake in a division of 777.

777 Partners is an American private equity firm investing primarily in the airline industry. The company also holds shares in football clubs such as FC Sevilla, Standard Liège and Melbourne Victory.

Windhorst had invested 375 million in Hertha BSC – but the money fizzled out both economically and sportingly. The Berliners will also play against relegation in 2022/2023. The Table 14 Tab. on the relegation rank is only one point.
