Hertha Berlin fire their coach, Tayfun Korkut

The Berlin team Hertha BSC announced this Sunday that it will dispense “with immediate effect” from its coach Tayfun Korkutalthough the club does not currently have a replacement for the position.

According to a team statement, the decision to part with Korkut, who held the position since November 2021 and succeeded Pal Dardaicomes “after an intensive analysis and evaluation of the current sporting situation”.

Also leaving the club will be the co-coach and assistant Korkut, Ilija Aracić.

Hertha, which is already third from last in the Bundesliga ranking, lost this Saturday 0-2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“After a promising start with 7 points in the first 4 matches and a positive trend, we have openly and clearly analyzed the development of the performance and the results of the 9 matches of the second round,” said the club’s general manager, Fredy Bobic.

“We have 8 games left to get the points we need to stay in our division,” he added. Bocicwho stressed that the team will do “everything possible” to achieve this goal.

“With this decision we want to encourage all those involved to become even more aware of the situation and bet on the positive effect of a new beginning,” he stressed, according to the statement.

Korkutfor his part, thanked him for the period of collaboration with the club and wished him success in the future and that he manages to stay in first place.

“Unfortunately and for various reasons we could not maintain the good results of the beginning of our cooperation,” he said.
