The Red Hot Chili Peppers were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Friday (April 1). This also celebrated the fact that the band has been around for almost four decades.
Of course, the award also goes with another event: The Red Hot Chili Peppers will release their new studio album “Unlimited Love” on Friday. It is already the 12th record of the group, which was founded in 1983.
On Thursday (March 31) Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante took the 2.717. Stern on the famous Walk Of Fame personally and saw how it was embedded in the asphalt.
Special connection to Hollywood
The musicians also gave an acceptance speech. Guitarist John Frusciante, who rejoined the Chilis, recalled living in Hollywood prior to his success with the band. Flea told those present that he used to beg near the boulevard as a youth and played the trumpet at the nearby University of Southern California.
“I know this street inside and out, and this street knows me,” he said. “And whenever we’ve traveled around the world, that road has always been a part of me. I’m really grateful that we can now be a part of her.”
Vocalist Anthony Kiedis vowed the unity of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: “The sum of our parts is that we were able to find something that we love to do and communicate with the whole world. We started by playing dive bars down this street and getting a handful of people to dance.”
The singer continued, “We stayed together as a team and as a band, and now we can make everyone dance and feel joy.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers on tour
The Red Hot Chili Peppers also released a video for their new song These Are The Ways on Friday (April 1).
Unlimited Love is RHCP’s first album since 2006 to feature guitarist John Frusciante.
The band plans to embark on an extensive stadium tour this summer. Supporting acts are expected to include The Strokes, Beck, St. Vincent, HAIM, A$AP Rocky, Anderson .Paak, Thundercat, and King Princess. The tour will also take her to Germany for two concerts in Hamburg and Cologne.
