There are more announcements for the Elbjazz Festival 2022 in Hamburg, which will take place on June 3rd and 4th.
This week another 21 acts were added, including Bowie saxophonist Donny McCaslin, Sweden’s jazz star Nils Landgren with his Funk Unit, the NDR Bigband feat. Silvan Strauss and Guests and Judi Jackson.
Other newcomers are Matthew Whitaker, Leléka, Bobby Rausch, Cats & Breakkies, Olivier Le Goas & Reciprocity, Myles Sanko, The European Jazz Workshop in Concert, Richie Beirach Trio, Jaco 70 – Word of Mouth Revisited, Clara Lucas & Hauke Renken with Strings , The Premier feat. Lutz Krajenski, BLUFF feat. Julius Gawlik & Christian Müller, The Collective Abroad, Vincent Dombrowski, Dinev-Anfinsen Quartet, Knollektiv and Clémence Manachère Unterwasser.

The supporting program also plays a major role in Elbjazz. Here are the new details:
- The Hamburg Jazz Prize is awarded as part of the Elbjazz. In 2021 the drummer Silvan Strauss was awarded. Since there was no ceremony last year due to the corona pandemic, the prize will not be awarded until this year. The prizewinners’ concert will follow.
- JUGENDJAZZT@ELBJAZZ, in cooperation with the state competition “Jugend Jazzt” with the big band formations YO! JAZZ and Think Big brought two award-winning bands aged between 14 and 25 onto the stage for the first time.
- In the two DJ workshops scratching and club mixing, everything revolves around the turntables and how they can be used artistically, while in the trumpet talk Ingolf Burkhardt from the NDR Bigband will answer questions and give tips and tricks for your own musical practice gives.
- The ELBJAZZ Technik Tour provides a look behind the scenes and shows the technical requirements of a concert.
- In the Mojo Jazz Café, the Hamburg beat artist and producer High John & Guests will present hip-hop, jazz and soul-based music on Friday night (June 3, 2022), whose sounds are carried by the longing for the heavenly. Saturday night (June 4, 2022) there is an after show at Mojo.
- On Pentecost Sunday, June 5, 2022, there will be a jazz service for peace with Pastor Frank Engelbrecht and Nils Landgren (solo) in the main church of St. Katharinen. Start is at 2:00 p.m.
