What to do in the event of a total power failure? The Treptow-Köpenick district office has published the following recommendations on its website.

► Have warm clothing ready. If you have a stove/fireplace, you should stock up on coal, briquettes or wood.

► Procure candles, camping and flashlights.

► Food supplies and water should be stored at home for ten days.

► It is recommended to get a battery powered radio and spare batteries.

► Write down important numbers (electricity supplier, family, doctors, neighbors) on a piece of paper.

► Water should be collected in all available containers and used sparingly.

► The office also recommends keeping medication: including painkillers, electrolytes, bandages.

► Also important: have cash at home. Because in the event of a power failure, ATMs no longer work.
