Fleetwood Mac are dismayed by the Death of their longtime singer Christine McVie. After the band had already released a joint statement, the individual band members now also shared their memories of McVie.
“There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie,” the legendary band said in a statement. “She was truly unique, special and talented beyond measure. She was the best musician you could have in your band and the best friend you could have in your life. We were lucky to have a life with her. Individually and collectively, we treasured Christine immensely and are grateful for the wonderful memories we have of her. We will miss her so much,” the group said.
Stevie Nicks was unaware of her colleague’s illness
Stevie Nicks says he was unaware of McVie’s illness in an emotional, handwritten letter. “A few hours ago I found out that my best friend in the whole world has passed away since the first day of 1975. I didn’t even know she was ill… until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London, I wanted to go to London – but we were told to wait. So since Saturday, a song has been buzzing around in my head, over and over again. I thought maybe I could sing it to her, so I’m singing it to her now,” it reads. “I had a best friend / but she has come to pass / One I wish I could see now / You always remind me / that memories will last,” Nicks continues. She ends her letter with the words “See you on the other side of my live. Don’t forget me. Always, Stevie”
Mick Fleetwood: “I will miss everything about you”
Mick Fleetwood also released a statement in which he paid tribute to his colleague. “My dear sweet friend Christine McVie has taken to the skies…leaving us earthbound people to listen with bated breath to the strains of this songbird…reminding us all that love is all around us, around her.” to reach and touch in this precious life that has been given to us. Part of my heart flew away today… I’ll miss everything about you.”
