Weeks of waiting and guessing were rewarded when this year’s Masked Singer Suomi winner was crowned on Saturday. The winner was Musta-Lammas, who was eventually revealed to be jazz pianist Lenni-Kalle Taipale.
There were many different guesses, but very few could guess exactly what Taipale was hiding under the Black Lamb’s outfit. However, the jury was on the right track at the beginning of the race.

– Janne Kataja said in his first comment after coming on stage that this character reminded me of my friend Lenni-Ka. However, he added that when I opened my mouth and started singing, it really wasn’t like that, Taipale laughs in an interview with Iltalehti.
Taipale says that filming the program was one of the most memorable experiences of his life. The father of four only revealed to his spouse that he had been involved in the program filmed in early spring.
– No one else had a clue. Even the characters didn’t know each other’s true identities. I’ve worked at many studios during my career, so there were a lot of familiar programs there as well. I always came to the set with a hood on and a mask on my face.
Taipalee has a strong opinion on maintaining the mysteriousness of the character he plays.
– I am actually polite and even a little condescending at times. However, when I played the Black Lamb, I was a complete alpha. When the cameras weren’t even rolling yet, I walked in a completely different way than normal and poked a little at other characters, Taipale smiles.
Difficulties
Maintaining the outfit turned out to be a tougher challenge than expected. Taipale says that he changed his underwear up to four times a day because of the heat. He was described several times in the background as the sweatiest character in the history of the series.

– I had to take a shower after every practice. I can imagine what kind of experience it was for the show’s costume designers, Taipale laughs.
Difficulties were also caused by the fact that you could hardly see anything from the inside of the suit. Taipalee used to go on stage to measure in advance how many steps he could take in any direction according to the choreography.
– It must have been the very first dress rehearsal, when I started my performance in uncertainty with my back to the audience. The dancers then grabbed my hands and turned me around.
Throwing up
Taipalee has extensive experience working on TV and performing, but typically he is part of a band around the main performer. Now it was his turn to take the stage and be the center of attention.
– This experience was quite a foray into the singer’s world. Before, I only knew how to follow it smoothly from the side. In the race, I pushed to go as full as I could and didn’t change my voice at all. I tried to do this as hard as my own profession, says Taipale.

However, singing does not come naturally to Taipale. According to the 44-year-old pianist, his singing ability is a common joke in music circles.
– I used to sing in the middle of a show to the piano mic, so Mikko Kuustonen started laughing so hard in the middle of a sentence that he couldn’t finish the song, Taipale recalls.
Taipale welcomed her fourth child into the world in July. Everyday is busy with work and family expenses. The punting hall has also become familiar in the near future.
– Some hint promised that the body is a temple. Under the guise of that sentence, I have put myself in a good position. I eat smart and exercise a lot. There is a good mood at the moment, the good-natured Taipale says.
