‘Here I come away’ from Daniël Lohues again at 1 in the Drenthe 1000

Daniel Lohues succeeded for the second time in a row. At numbers 1 and 2 in the Drenthe 1000. ‘On bicycle’ at 2 and ‘Here I get away’ at 1. “It’s unbelievable, isn’t it,” he says to Radio Drenthe. “I don’t know very well, fantastic, it’s really beautiful.”

For many people it is a special song, according to reactions. A song that means a lot to them. “It’s also a special song for me, it’s one of the songs on Allennig II. I just recorded that on my own, with an acoustic guitar and two microphones.”

“But I knew when I wrote the lyrics that it touched me myself. The combination of words ‘I’m getting out of here’. You don’t say that one, two, three, you say: ‘Where are you coming from?’ Since then, with the playing of the song and the passing of the years, it appears that the song is held in high esteem by the listeners as well.”

People sometimes speak of a new Drenthe anthem, but Lohues does not want that. “A folk song needs a special kind of music. Here I come away is a Folksong with an F. I’ve been making music all my life, not in the back of my mind that I want to achieve something with it. I make it without concessions, without frills.”

On March 2, Lohues will start a new tour in Hardenberg. “With a bunch of new songs I might be recording as well and a few other things in the pipeline. The new year is looking good.”
