Here Dave Gahan jumps into the Greek Sea

Depeche Mode brought their “Memento Mori” summer tour to an end in mid-August 2023, now it’s time to catch your breath until the next concert segment in America in autumn, before heading back to Europe next year for the indoor tour in late winter.

Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Christian Eigner and Peter Gordeno seem to be on vacation at the moment. Gahan and his family in particular are photographed at every turn and were last in Greece. A video is currently going viral showing the singer diving into Greek waters. The 61-year-old cuts a fine figure with top marks for posture, as the clip below shows. The jump height was several meters.

We recently reported:

“Yesterday we had the opportunity to prepare the legendary group Depeche Mode for the concert. We are so happy that we were able to add a little building block to her outfit on stage 🎸😎🎤✂️ There was fire at the National 🔥🔥 #depechemode #pgenarodowy” – this is the title of an Instagram post published on Saturday (05 August 2023 ) was posted on The Faces Barber Shop Instagram. This is a hairdresser’s shop in Warsaw, based in the Sofitel Warsaw Victoria, a posh hotel in the Polish capital.

The five-part photo series shows how first Depeche Mode composer Martin Gore and then band manager Jonathan Kessler got a new haircut from the very smartly dressed barber. Gore has the sides shaved nicely, very 1980s emo style. What was done at Kessler is not entirely clear. It looks as if the hairdresser mainly slapped the neck of the grizzled businessman. Perhaps the visit to the hairdresser was also a birthday present for him – the band congratulated their long-time companion on Friday (August 4th) on the stage of the Tauron Arena in Kraków with a respectable “Happy Birthday to you”.

Martin Gore doesn’t look all that happy, but on the other hand he’s not exactly known for a hearty laugh either. At least we now know – sorry, but EVERY pop star is allowed to ask this question – that all of Gore’s hair appears to be real. With hairpieces, you don’t go through to an unfamiliar hairdresser and then have the result photographed.

If the weather cooperates, Martin Gore, Dave Gahan, Christian Eigner and Peter Gordeno will end their European summer tour in Oslo on August 11th. The band had to cancel their scheduled gig in Helsinki for Tuesday (August 8th) due to an impending storm.

On their Facebook page, Depeche Mode write: “Due to the poor weather conditions forecast and the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds, we are forced to cancel tomorrow’s show at Kaisaniemi Park. The health and safety of our fans, crew and everyone working on site is our top priority. We were advised by Tukes (the Finnish Agency for Safety and Chemicals) and the local fire department that it might be unsafe to proceed given the forecast weather conditions.
Fans can return their purchased tickets to the point of sale (Ticketmaster) until October 7, 2023.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope everyone stays safe.” So the show will not be rescheduled.

Concert promoter Livenation adds: “The forecast weather conditions, including strong local gusts of wind as well as rain and thunderstorms, pose significant hazards that make it impossible to safely set up and hold the event according to the original schedule. Tickets already purchased can be returned where they were purchased.”
