The qualification for the finals of the tango market song competition was contested today. 4 women and 3 men participated in the qualifying: Heta Halonen, Hanne Kivioja, Hanna Hirvonen, Sari Tuliniemi, Janne Marja-Aho, Lauri Ketonen mixed Keijo Hietikko. Finalist Tomi Kuusela had to leave the competition earlier this week due to illness.

On Thursday evening, the contestants performed one traditional tango and one percussion piece as a tango arrangement.

Heta Halonen, 30, performed the songs I expected a long evening and Chisun Destiny’s own. In the final qualifying, the surprise performer was the 2016 tango queen and singer Erika Vikman, who interpreted her hit song The table of sinners sensual tango version.

This year, the jury of the competition includes the chairman of the jury, artist Nina Tapio, choreographer Marco Bjurström, the tango king of 2010 Marko Maunukselaartist Hanna Pakarinen and Universal Music Finland’s A&R director Marja Kokko. The qualifiers for the final and Saturday’s final competition will be hosted by South Ostrobothnia’s Susanna Laine and HP Parviainen.
