In the Champions League, frighteningly high-quality groups were built again.
PDO
The initial groups of the Champions League for the 2023–2024 season were drawn on Thursday evening in Monaco.
One group with a lot of interesting matches is Group F. Newcastle United, making a return to the tournament, will immediately find themselves in the deep end and will face another team operating with a bottomless transfer fund, PSG, the big German club Dortmund and last spring’s semi-final team AC Milan in the group.
Manchester United won’t have an easy time either, as they will face familiar European opponent Bayern Munich. The other teams in Group A are FC Copenhagen and Turkish champion Galatasaray.
Only two first-timers participated in the group draws: Royal Antwerp, who won the Belgian championship with practically the last kick last spring, and Union Berlin, Germany’s likable and well-known as a true supporters’ team. The Berliners play in the same group as Real Madrid, Napoli and Braga.
Another thing that describes the new era is that it doesn’t Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo see this season in Europe’s number one tournament. Messi currently plays in the United States and Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.
