Hercules & Love Affair announce new album IN AMBER with lead single “Grace”.

Hercules And Love Affair have announced a new album. IN AMBER, so the title, is scheduled for release on June 17th. Listen to “Grace”, the first new single from it, partly reminiscent of The National’s sound, and watch the accompanying music video.

Hercules And Love Affair is the dance project of New York DJ Andy Butler. So far he has released four albums under the name, most recently OMNION in 2017. IN AMBER was once again created in collaboration with ANOHNI. Their 2008 single “Blind” is still considered Hercules And Love Affair’s biggest hit. Siouxsie and the Banshees drummer Budgie will also feature on the new album.

Butler shares via IN AMBER that it’s not about partying, clubs and good vibes at all:

“Destruction, rage, loss, but also redemption and journeying towards empowerment are all touchstones on the album. It has taken years to make, but I am happy to put it forward now, at a moment in time where we have all been confronted with such heightened feelings collectively and on an unprecedented scale. (…) In dance music, the focus tends to be more on celebration, joy, desire, heartbreak. But rage? Existential contemplation? Not so much…certain emotions seemed to be off limits”.
