Bayern President Herbert Hainer announces a change of course at FC Bayern. As the successor to Thomas Müller, he gives a surprising name.
President Herbert Hainer sees FC Bayern in competition with the other top European clubs with great economic challenges. “In view of the externally financed top international clubs, we work as our competitors under increasingly difficult economic conditions. If you want to be successful in terms of sport, this costs an incredible amount of money today, but big challenges are our field,” said Hainer of “Sport Bild”. How does the German record champion want to meet all of this in the future?
“We generally have to do wise in transfers and negotiations-and look even more at our FC Bayern campus,” said the 71-year-old. “The fact is that we currently have a salary structure at a very high level. We want and have to turn back on, which of course does not go overnight – you need a few years.” And further: “The goal is that we gradually renew ourselves. Our sporting management is on it.”
There will now be a major incision at Bayern with the farewell of Thomas Müller, who has now left his heart club as a player after a total of 25 years. How can you replace such an icon? “Replacing a Thomas Müller 1: 1 is not possible,” said Hainer, “on as far as the square because his career and character are unique. His way of playing is not copable like his appearance-a Bavaria player with heart and soul.”
It will continue, Hainer said: “Now you have to assume other responsibility.” Hainer also revealed who he thinks of: “Joshua Kimmich with his overwhelming will to win, he is the personified Bayern-DNA. Young players from our campus like Jamal, Aleksandar Pavlović, Josip Stanišić.” Somewhat surprisingly, Hainer also called a new addition to his list: “With Jonathan Tah we got a leader from Leverkusen.”
