C.arlo III was visibly excited during the proclamation ceremony this morning at St James’s Palacebefore theAccession Council, an ancient body made up of two hundred politicians, judges and other personalities at the head of British institutions. Beside him there were also his wife Camilla and son William.
King Charles III makes the princes of Queen Elizabeth his own
During the traditional, ancient and elaborate ceremony that had not taken place since 1952, the year of Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne, Charles made a personal statement making of new tribute to the mother: “His reign was unrivaled in its duration, commitment and devotion“.

The new king then took his oath, noting the responsibilities of the mother queen, following his example and solemnly promising to ensure “the peace, harmony and prosperity of the citizens of these islands and the Commonwealth territories“. And he has not forgotten Camilla, saying he is “encouraged by the constant support of his beloved wife”.
William, Prince of Wales, one day king
The proclamation was then signed by Charles, by the queen consort Camilla and by William, the new Prince of Wales, who will certainly have thought about when his turn as a protagonist in the ceremonial will arrive, in what will be his ascension to the throne. With them were Premier Liz Truss and other dignitaries, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and various other former prime ministers, including Boris Johnson and Tony Blair.
Carlo progressive like his father Filippo
It was Carlo who decided to welcome the cameras for the first time in theAccession Council. The new king desires transparency, court sources say, and he wanted his subjects to be present in a ceremony that did not disappoint, proving once again how the British are unbeatable in traditions and ceremonials conducted with great fanfare. The new king has this followed the example of his father Filippo who, in 1953, had insisted on having Elizabeth’s Coronation broadcast live.
After Queen Elizabeth, the new king arrives
And when the Garter of Arms – the king of arms of the Garter who always precedes the sovereign in heraldic ceremonials – came out on the balcony of St James’s Palace to proclaim the new king, Charles III, the crowd launched into an enthusiastic “hi hip Hooray”, then singing in chorus the national anthem now changed to God Save The KingGod save the King.
