Hepatitis in children: First case also in Germany

Many people experience no or mild symptoms with all forms of hepatitis, but each type can cause severe symptoms: Hepatitis A, B, and C often cause fever, malaise, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, dark-colored urine, and jaundice, which is a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Hepatitis variant E begins with a slight fever, has symptoms similar to A and can also lead to a skin rash and joint pain and occasionally trigger acute liver failure. Hepatitis D only occurs in the case of an existing infection with B and can further worsen the condition of the sick person, for example accelerate cirrhosis of the liver.
