Amsterdam – ‘A wise, erudite man with a razor-sharp sense of humor and language’, is how the family of Henny Vrienten describes the singer and musician, who died on Monday at the age of 73. Female fifties who were teenagers in the early eighties mainly remember him as the fiercely attractive frontman of the band Doe Maar. Between 1980 and 1984, together with keyboardist Ernst Jansz, he made many girls’ hearts beat faster.
