RKC Waalwijk has a new trainer. The club has signed Henk Fraser for the next two seasons. He will succeed Joseph Oosting, who will leave for FC Twente after this season.
Fraser had to leave FC Utrecht during the winter break. During a training camp, he had grabbed a player, Amin Younes, by the throat.
The 56-year-old Fraser played at Sparta, FC Utrecht, Roda JC and Feyenoord. The six-time international started his coaching career with the youth of Feyenoord. As head coach, Fraser worked at ADO Den Haag, Vitesse and Sparta before joining FC Utrecht.
Old acquaintance
At RKC he meets at least one old acquaintance. He previously worked together with Mo Allach, now technical director in Waalwijk, at Vitesse.
Fraser is looking forward to it, as he says on the site of his new club: “I see a lot of potential within the club and am determined to get the most out of it together with the players, staff, management and supporters. I’m looking forward to it looking forward to getting started and continuing on the path we have taken over the past few years.”
‘The right person’
The new trainer will have to do without Mats Seuntjens, who is leaving for FC Utrecht, and Pelle Clement and Saïd Bakari, who have both opted for Sparta. The departure of these three players is offset by the return of Aaron Meijers and the arrival of keeper Jeroen Houwen.
RKC’s general manager Frank van Mosselveld: “We are convinced that Henk, as a person and as a trainer, is the right person to follow up on what we have achieved as a club in recent years.”
