In a wonderful match, Helpman failed to administer the first defeat of the season to leader Grijpskerk. The topper in 3C ended in 3-3.
Grijpskerk is going for the championship, but Helpman also has a chance of winning a prize in two scenarios. Scenario 1: Helpman takes the third period title himself (a gap of three points on the competition). Scenario 2: Green Yellow conquers the third period and Helpman receives a replacement period title from the champion as number three.
Promising start
So there is still something to fight for and that was visible in the meeting with title candidate Grijpskerk. Helpman got off to a good start and had two good chances in the early stages. Wouter van der Graaf’s header went wide, but shortly afterwards the technically skilled Michiel Rusch made it 1-0 from close range.
Grijpskerk went on the hunt for the equalizer and after about half an hour of play, that hunt was rewarded. Gert-Jan Soldaat cut well in front of his opponent past the penalty area and was brought down in the process. Jesse Broeils completed the verdict from eleven meters: 1-1.
Pursuit
Not much later, Joost Schoenmaker just got free passage towards Helpman goalie Rob Hölscher and Grijpskerk’s top scorer scored in a controlled way: 1-2. Now Helpman had to chase. A wonderfully curled shot from Rusch was just as beautifully tapped out of the corner by Grijpskerk goalkeeper Dirkjan Postma, but with halftime in sight the game turned again.
First Postma let a ball bounce off his chest in front of goal and Wouter van der Graaf was there like the chickens to take advantage: 2-2. A few minutes later, the home team struck again from a nice attack. A through ball from Rusch, given with great feeling, put the entire defense of the guests in awe and Van der Graaf simply slid the ball in: 3-2.
To enjoy
Even after the resumption, it continued to enjoy along the line. Postma more than made up for his earlier mistake by successively preventing Van der Graaf, Van Huffelen, Rusch, De Haas and Van Dorp from scoring. As a result, Jelle Schoenmaker was able to score the equalizer from a counter: 3-3. In addition to a header from Pieter van de Kamp, with a clever reflex kept out of the goal by Hölscher, that was also the only achievement of the visitors after the break.
,,Helpman had more claim to the victory, so I am happy with this point”, said Grijpskerk coach Rinie Jurna. “There was nothing more to it today. We have to cross the line with the four points lead over Groen Geel in the next three matches.”
