Patricia and her husband Robert live with their 6-year-old daughter in appalling conditions. They have been living in a house that is completely dilapidated for ten years: parts of the wall are missing, part of the house has no roof and some rooms are full of dangerous mould.
Robert hardly does odd jobs. All his free time goes to his cars. The best man has a garage full of special cars and there are about 40,000 euros worth of miniature cars in the house.
Two houses
When John Williams sees the house, he reacts with shock. Especially the bathroom that has turned black because of the mold makes him angry. “Your child showers here too, huh? You should be ashamed of yourself,” he says irritated.
After the tour of the house, Patricia has a surprise in store for the presenter. There is not one house, there are two. The second house has been in the couple’s possession for three years, and although it is not as dilapidated as the one they live in now, it is not habitable.
no help
When it’s time to confront Robert, Patricia lures him into a parking lot with an excuse. There it turns out that Robert does not need to know anything about the program. He doesn’t need the help, even if ‘a ton is transferred’. “I’d rather go bankrupt than accept help,” he tells John.
Uninhabitable
Ultimately, a compromise is made. It Help my husband is a handymanteam fixes up a few rooms in the second house and Robert does the rest himself. A hectic period, because the dangerous fungi make the first house of the family uninhabitable. “Go to your doctor and have your blood pressure checked. This cannot be so. You have to get out of here as soon as possible,” advises a mold expert.
Comments
Viewers of the program react angrily on Twitter. They find it incomprehensible that the parents let their daughter grow up under these circumstances.
I’m not a mold expert, but I could have told them not to stay there for a minute longer. And then start crying pitifully that you have to get out. That fungus didn’t come in 1 night, she could have thought of it herself #hmmik
