Helmut Schlotterer transfers company to employees

Just in time for the 50th anniversary, Helmut Schlotterer announces his successor plans for Marc Cain.

The founder, owner and managing director of Marc Cain has decided to bequeath his company and private assets to the non-profit Helmut Schlotterer Foundation.

Schlotter, who founded the Bodelshausen-based fashion company in 1973, hands it over to his employees. By setting up an employee foundation, the voting rights are to be transferred to the employees, Marc Cain said in a post on the LinkedIn careers network. The foundation and thus the company are managed by a works council made up of all active executives. The 76-year-old is said to have announced his successor plan during a company event.

“The fact that Marc Cain is placed in the right hands is close to my heart more than anything. Selling the company was never an option for me and since my wife and I have no children, I decided to set up foundations to continue the company,” says Schlotter.

The path is the right one to continue Marc Cain both in Schlotterer’s will and in the interests of the employees. The production site in Bodelshausen is particularly emphasized, because this is also secured by the decision. The contribution does not reveal the extent to which Schlotterer will remain with the company and when the change will take place. The management of Marc Cain is currently made up of Schlotterer, Diana Brajkovic as General Manager Sales and Logistics and Dirk Büscher, Managing Director Sales and Logistics.

Marc Cain has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
