Actress Helmi-Leena Nummela used to wear herself out with her own demands. With another child, he can take things more relaxed.
Actress Helmi-Leena Nummela has a two-week-old baby waiting at home.
– I am here for the first time without him. I left pumped milk, Nummela tells Iltalehte Princess Little Mermaid – at the film’s press conference on Tuesday.
Nummela says that the new baby life has started well.
– It’s true what everyone says: you can take it easy with another child. You don’t stress about the wrong things, but you can focus on what’s important, Nummela says.

Nummela gives a vivid example of his observations.
– Modern parenting culture is characterized by such an emphasis on presence and attachment. I feel that sometimes parents set unreasonable demands on themselves, Nummela says.
He did so himself.
– After the birth of my first child, I thought that I had to be really present all the time. I exhausted myself by doing it for nothing.
– Now I like to breastfeed and be with the baby, but I can read a book at the same time. After all, children are not supposed to be the center of life, but to become a part of our lives and those circumstances. It’s been really relaxed and wonderful, Nummela describes.
Big brother
Nummela has a four-year-old child from her previous relationship with an actress-artist Roope Salminen with. The new big brother has also been prepared for the new situation.
– I have thought a lot about how to introduce the new family member to the big brother. Feelings of jealousy are natural and will certainly occur. But I have thought about how he will feel that he is a part of this – and what would create a good foundation for sisterhood, says Nummela.
Nummela thinks that despite the preparations, everything will only become concrete when the baby is born.
This theme will also be discussed in the future Princess Little Mermaid in the movie, when Pikkiriikki’s mother has “someone who moves in with them” to live in her stomach.
A familiar character
Nummela says that he was extremely happy when he was asked to be in that film. Nummela has played Pikkiriikki both on the stage of the National Theater and in Yle’s audition. This time, Nummela will not be seen in the role of the crown-headed protagonist, but as Princess Pikkiriikki (Ada Pusa) friend Pöjöläinen (Minni Kuivalainen) as a mother.
– The character is a wonderful role model for children, that anarchistic little princess, Nummela rejoices.
Nummela says that she has consumed a lot of children’s culture with her four-year-old.
– Children’s culture should be done as intelligently and seriously as for adults, Nummela emphasizes.
Princess Pikkiriikki premieres on March 27.
