Hellwig with “greater expectations” to Paris

Triathlete Tim Hellwig is already feeling great anticipation almost nine months before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris.

“I can’t wait to be on the line in Paris,” said the 24-year-old at a Suzuki media event: “I’m very pleased that I’ve already secured qualification. The whole year is geared towards that. That will be present in every unit in the mind.”

The Saarbrücken native qualified early for the Summer Games in seventh place in the test race in Paris in August. “The year was extremely successful. I took another step towards the absolute top of the world,” said Hellwig: “I had to work my way up through smaller races. Then I had an almost perfect run. It almost ran itself.”

According to the DJK St. Ingbert athlete, he has “greater expectations” of the Olympics as an overall event: “Hopefully it will be a bit like London 2012. There will be a lot of hustle and bustle, it will be on a completely different level than what we have experienced so far. I am looking forward to it I’m extremely excited.”

In terms of sport, he wanted to get the “maximum” out of it. “I hope that my best picture comes together in Paris and that I can deliver my performance.”
