An Alkmaarder on a motorcycle was arrested last night in Haarlem. The 48-year-old man was wearing so-called colors (the logo or club clothing) of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, but that has recently been banned.
This is reported by the police. The motorcyclist was spotted by officers in Zandvoort around 11.45 pm. He was then put aside a few kilometers further on De Ruijterweg.
The Alkmaarder had to go to the office for questioning and investigation. His vest with the Hells Angels logo has been confiscated. He is free to await further investigation.
Forbidden Club
The Supreme Court decided two weeks ago that motorcycle club Hells Angels (Netherlands) is definitively banned. This follows a lengthy legal procedure: the Public Prosecution Service requested the ban because, in its view, the club is contrary to public order.
There are known cases in which members of the Hells Angels – in a club – intimidate or be violent. So be in 2018 gang members from Haarlem and Alkmaar sentenced to years in prison.
‘Freedom of speech’
Opponents of the ban believe that, for example, wearing the logo – the way you dress – is part of free speech. The ban was challenged up to an appeal in cassation, but that was irrevocably rejected in mid-July.
Motorcycle gangs No Surrender, Satudarah and Bandidos are also banned in the Netherlands. The Hardliners club, about which NH Nieuws has written a lot, has not yet been formally banned. Wearing the logo was prohibited in several municipalities in North Holland through the general local ordinance (local legislation), but this is swept off the table in January.
