“Hello, Wendy, Gordon, and Linda!”

Today Inside has definitely grown into the most important talk show in the Netherlands this season. The men of VI have turned out to be the saviors of SBS 6. “And not Wendy, Gordon or Linda.”

The season is over for Today Inside and Johan Derksen, René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee can look back on an extremely successful series. Remarkably enough, especially in recent weeks, despite the beautiful weather outside, they attracted a lot of attention. The season finale attracted almost 1.1 million viewers (27 percent) to SBS 6 yesterday.

‘What numbers!’

According to Joost Maiburg, the viewing figure connoisseur of RTL Boulevard, it is a record for the longer Friday broadcast. “What numbers!” he writes on his analysis channel. “The program has been the most watched talk show in the Netherlands lately and also regularly the best-scoring primetime program of the day.”

He continues: “The men of VI have therefore managed to pull SBS 6 out of the doldrums and are the cork on which the channel floats. Fortunately, the channel managed to capture Wilfred, René and Johan until at least the summer of 2025. SBS6 will fill the gap in the coming months with Marcel & Gijs and De Oranjezomer.”

Wendy or Gordon

John de Mol has tried to get SBS 6 on the rise with all kinds of million-dollar transfers, but in the end it is the men of VI who pull the channel out of the doldrums. “Not big and expensive stars like Wendy, Gordon, Linda finally brought SBS 6 back to ratings success after many lean years, no: it was Wilfred, René and Johan,” says Tina Nijkamp.

The former channel boss of SBS 6 writes that this season scored even better than the previous one: “On average, the broadcasts were watched by about 200 thousand more people. Especially in the last two months, the viewing figures have skyrocketed and VI was in the top 5 or even top 3 about two to four times a week.”

Where is Jinek?

Today Inside was the big number one at prime time last night. Competitor Eva Jinek attracted less than half (!) of the number of viewers. She got stuck at 545 thousand viewers (15 percent). But Eva also suffers greatly from all streaming services. And people watch less TV anyway, according to the presenter.

Eva sees VI’s competition disappear from Monday. Then she competes with Marcel & Gijs on SBS 6. Will that also score? Joost: “That will probably score a lot lower.”
