At 68 years old, comedian Helge Schneider is still touring and has over 70 performances planned until October 2024. One reason for this are financial problems, which the entertainer revealed in the ARD program “Brisant”.
“I have to go back on stage to eat”
Accordingly, his pension is not even close to enough to live on – he can only pay his rent. “But I have to go back on stage to eat so I can eat,” the 68-year-old said in the talk. And that despite the fact that he had paid “a lot” into the pension fund throughout his life. Schneider also joked that the free catering was “actually the only reason” why he was still touring. In his opinion, an early retirement is out of the question.
