Norwegian cross-country team Helene Marie Fossesholmia will not be seen on the cross-country skiing tracks this spring.

NRK reported last week that Fossesholm was taking a break from competing after the Olympics.

Now Fossesholm says in his Instagram release that he will suspend the season altogether.

– There have been significant increases this season, but unfortunately mostly declines. Now I have to recharge, so the message from the Olympics was my last race this season.

A season of disappointment

Fossesholm was ranked 18th out of a 15-kilometer combined race to catch the personal Olympics. The Norwegian skier’s best finish in the World Cup of the season was Lillehammer’s 10th kilometer fourth place.

Fossesholm’s coach Geir Endre Rognin according to the break is in place as the recovery of the 20-year-old skier has not worked.

– This is partly due to summer and autumn training. It was way too much. Breaks were taken after hard training days, but there were still too many hard training days.
