Hélène Hendriks is the new viewing figure goddess of SBS 6. The presenter stunned everyone last summer with the towering viewing figures of her talk show De Oranjezomer. It is inevitable that her salary is now moving towards Eva Jinek-like proportions: Hélène who rakes a ton every month. Or not?
Does Helene demand more?
With such viewing figures in your pocket, it is nice to negotiate, but, says Hélène The 538 Afternoon Show: “Well, it would be nice if I still had to negotiate, but I don’t have to negotiate anymore. Yes, that is of course tactically very badly chosen of me. I was already out before I started this.”
Are the scribbles already under it? “I haven’t signed yet, but no, dude, I’m of my word. To be honest, the money doesn’t really bother me too much. I have a very good contact, I am super satisfied.”
‘Not so good at’
Women often negotiate less vigorously than men and that also applies to Hélène. “I’ve said before: I’m not very good at all that negotiating. People need to value you and if they think it’s this, then that’s it. Then I won’t have a hard time walking.”
Hélène has got a lot of feathers in the ass. “I think I will still be crooked for the next six months, because I have had so many. A bit exaggerated of course from all sides, but oh well, it’s nice to hear something like that instead of negative things, isn’t it?
800 thousand viewers
On most evenings, De Oranjezomer attracted around 800,000 viewers. “It wasn’t like that every day, of course, but it always gives you a good feeling when you know it’s well received. If you know that 200,000 people are watching, you still think: oh, I’m doing something wrong.”
She continues: “And now you think: we are succeeding in what we wanted, namely that it is a bit feel good and that you end the day with a smile. That was not from day one, but it went quickly.”
