Hélène Hendriks shocked by bad review: ‘She is too light’

Hélène Hendriks somewhat disappoints the AD media editors. She has just finished two weeks of her talk show De Oranjewinter, ‘and that was very non-binding and light’.

The praise for Hélène Hendriks knows no bounds. Everyone is enthusiastic and Tina Nijkamp puts a kind of factual framework around it with her audience analysis: she scores really, really well. She has just completed two weeks of her talk show De Oranjewinter and it was a great success with around one million viewers.

Evening Coffee Time

However, Marcus den Blanken, media journalist and professional TV viewer of the AD, is somewhat disappointed. “Yes, the ratings are booming and she is booming, but I have to say: this is Coffee Time for the evening. It is a continuation of HLF8. It is not the best talk show ever made,” he says AD Media podcast.

But, he continues: “It’s fun to watch. It’s cozy. It’s cheerful. Not always, for example if there are three senior men with a free boomer opinion. I wouldn’t put Jan Slagter, Pieter Kobelens and Jack van Gelder at the table again. But no, Hélène does it nicely. But now and then I find it…”

Too light?

Presenter Manuel Venderbos fills it in for him: “You think it’s too light?”

Manuel, who also presents Shownieuws.

Yes, Marcus answers. “I was really a fan of the Orange Summer. That was actually exactly the tone I wanted. But maybe that was also because it was summer. But here, yes, every now and then I have seen a broadcast, and then it is just… It is mainly about: how was your day and what did you do?”

‘Not that special’

The magic has worn off a bit, Marcus thinks. “It’s very entertaining and especially broadcast, but it’s not as special as it was back then.”

Colleague Angela de Jong: “I kind of understand what you mean, I think. It is now a bit too non-binding.”

Marcus: “Yes, very non-binding and very light.”

Gun factor

Fortunately, Hélène can make a difference with the viewer, according to Angela. “Hélène undeniably has the favorability factor. You notice that in everything. Then I hear from people around me who are watching it. You notice what the audience is doing in the studio. They just really like it. And I think that’s very clever.”

The opinion dragon concludes: “You just visit her for an hour as a viewer and you actually chat about the news and she doesn’t make it too difficult for the guests. She dares to make a joke or a jab. Hélène is just a lot of fun.”
