Hélène Hendriks had ‘a very long conversation’ with Johan Derksen about the infamous explosion of Pieter Omtzigt behind the scenes at SBS 6. “My eyes are now opened.”
For a long time, Pieter Omtzigt could do no wrong with the men of Today Inside, especially Johan Derksen, but the program has now turned head-on against him. Now that the leader of NSC has collapsed the formation, they are really done with the politician. And Johan regrets his vote for the new political party.
Notorious nuisance
Omtzigt is blamed from all sides for blowing up the formation via an app. He practically dumped his fellow formation mates via Humberto Tan’s talk show. Tasteless, Johan thinks. “It is a notorious nuisance. That man disappointed me so much,” he says Today Inside.
René van der Gijp believes that you cannot rely on Omtzigt. “You should just forget about that man. The key now lies with the VVD. You shouldn’t want to deal with that Omtzigt anymore. You should not want to.”
Unguided projectile
Geert Wilders is more reliable than Omtzigt, Johan thinks. “If he wants to tolerate, they can use him, but I think that from now on every party will be very reluctant to make agreements with Omtzigt. He is a loose cannon.”
Host Wilfred Genee is surprised: “But this is the man you put on the saddle.”
Johan: “Now let him tackle the problems we have. Take your responsibility, but don’t just whine in the House of Representatives about everything that went wrong. Solve it!”
Snapped
It really is so disappointing, says Johan. “I’m turned off by Omtzigt. If he had said before the elections: ‘I will never join a majority cabinet with them, he would have had 5 seats instead of 20.’ He just fucked things up!”
Omtzigt walked away from the formation because he was so tired and wanted to go back to Enschede. What a slacker, Johan thinks. Previous rumors about Omtzigt’s mental state were always dismissed by the VI star. “My eyes have now been opened.”
Hélène gossips
The rumors are apparently true, according to Johan. “I assumed that the competition wanted to smear him, but I had a very long conversation about it with Hélène. She experienced it up close at HLF8 and she said: ‘Afterwards there was no way to sail with that man. All emotional and swearing.’”
In the summer of 2022, Omtzigt misbehaved terribly on Hélène’s then talk show HLF8. Johan concludes: “You have to experience it first. The whole of the Netherlands has now experienced it. It is an unreliable nuisance.”
