Due to her greatly increased success, Hélène Hendriks can earn around 2 million euros per year at SBS 6, says VI expert Victor Vlam, who previously helped Raymond Mens get a top contract.
One thing is certain: Hélène Hendriks is currently severely underpaid by SBS 6. The negotiations about her contract took place before the enormous success of De Oranjezomer and De Oranjewinter. Now she is tied to that contract and, according to Patty Brard, she is therefore missing out on tons of money per year. How much exactly is she worth?
Extremely insecure
It concerns millions, says Victor Vlam. The TV expert and VI expert got the ball rolling for Raymond Mens last year by saying that he would be worth €200,000 per year. Shortly afterwards he signed a contract with Talpa. And now he is looking at Hélène’s pay slip, you can hear it in the podcast The Communicados.
Victor thinks that De Oranjewinter means a lot to John de Mol. “In the past, the success of SBS 6 was almost entirely dependent on a man who turns 75 this month, Johan Derksen. And that of course makes it extremely uncertain. And that in turn puts pressure on the market value of a channel. Yes, VI could stop it in the short term.”
Good salesperson
Johan can stop at any moment, Victor continues. “It’s a bit like having a company with one big, good salesperson who single-handedly generates half of the turnover. Then you are worth less as a company because you are very dependent on that one person who brings in half of your turnover.”
Hélène offers John de Mol perspective. “Even if Johan Derksen stops, they can continue the success they have now with that talk show at half past ten. And that means that it simply becomes much more attractive for another party to buy Talpa. And it also means that John can charge a lot more for it.”
2 million euros
It is evident that Hélène is worth much more money, according to Victor. “Little tip to Hélène: whatever you do, I would ask for more salary. I don’t know how much she gets, but I think she can get a lot more. I think she could get two million, because the market value she adds to SBS, yes, is many tens of millions.”
John would do well to give her ‘really everything her heart desires’, Victor thinks. “The sale of SBS 6 seems to me to be something that will happen in the short term. Whether that will be in a year or three years, I don’t know. But De Oranjewinter offers John de Mol a perfect starting position to ask a lot for Talpa Network.”
7.5 million euros
Wilfred Genee, Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp are worth about 2.5 million euros per person, per year, so together 7.5 million euros, former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp previously estimated. There was some ridicule about that, but now she is right. “SBS 6 has increased market share by no less than 1 percent on an annual basis,” she writes analysis channel.
According to insiders, one extra percent of market share equals 10 million euros more profit, Tina explains. “It turns out that only the VI men are indeed responsible for this.”
