Hélène Hendriks appeared on television with a cremated croquette. This is not about Rachel Hazes, but about the variant with breadcrumbs. “Is this really a swear word?”
If anyone deserves summary dismissal, it is Rachel Hazes’ PR advisor, if she has one at all. Precisely by demanding a ban on her nickname ‘cremated croquette’, this alias will haunt her for the rest of her life. Everyone is now mocking her croquette demand, including Hélène Hendriks.
Helene with croquette
Hélène held up a pretty burnt croquette on her talk show HLF8 last night. “Guys, something is bothering me. I have a little doubt, maybe you can help me: is this a cremated croquette or not?”
The nickname ‘cremated croquette’ was made up by a random person on the internet and Yvonne Coldeweijer has embraced that term because it just sounds really funny. Rachel is angry about it, but Hélène wonders whether that is necessary: ”Is that really a swear word, a cremated croquette?”
Telegraaf journalist Wierd Duk thinks not. “I laughed a lot, yes. I find that very creative.”
Streisand effect
Many people already see this miss by Rachel as the Dutch equivalent of the so-called Streisand effect. The phenomenon is named after Barbra Streisand, who in 2003 filed a lawsuit against a website for removing photos from her home, leading to massive publicity and more than 400,000 additional visits to the site.
Private editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds finds it unprecedented that no one has pointed this out to Rachel. “Who advises Rachel? Who is her media advisor? You should never fight that in a lawsuit. That will always stick to her because of this case,” he says to the Shownieuws desk.
Big spotlight
Yvonne Coldeweijer, who structurally uses the croquette term in her juice channel, agrees. “It is now widely highlighted, so that people who do not follow me now also know this term,” she tells NU.nl.
Journalist Ton F. van Dijk sees it as a publicity failure. “Not smart of Rachel Hazes”, he tweets.
Evert does not understand at all what Rachel is so concerned about. “It is not unspiritual in itself.”
Show connoisseur Bart Ettekoven says in response to Evert: “When that term was first used in the court case, you also saw the corners of everyone’s mouths go up.”
Fancy a croquette
Rachel is sure to pop out of her own crispy crust when she sees how much media is now embracing her pet name. “The cremated croquette, as Yvonne says, demands rectification of incorrect and hurtful statements,” said Eddy Zoëy, for example, yesterday during a intro in RTL Boulevard.
And at the end of the broadcast: “Guys, surprise: the kitchen has croquettes for us. They do smell a bit cremated.”
Luuk Ikink then: “I would like a croquette.”
Mealworm sandwich
Actress Nienke ‘s Gravemade hopes that the judge will ask Rachel to solve these kinds of issues in the future by stretching the limits of her resilience:
