Former NHL player Mikko Koivun and Helena Koivu’s divorce has been discussed in court since 2020. The couple previously lived with their children in the state of Minnesota in the United States.
A Minnesota court decided at the end of June that the couple’s children will move to Turku, which is Miko’s hometown. Helena, on the other hand, would have liked the children to stay with her in the United States.
At the beginning of August, Helena commented to Iltalehti that she had not seen her children for over a month. According to him, the children moved to Finland on July 1. Koivui has 5-, 8- and 10-year-old children. The couple got married in 2014.
– I basically don’t have money right now even for a plane ticket to come to Finland. My visa doesn’t allow it either, but I would have to get a special permit for it. Frankly speaking, senseless mental violence has been done to me here, Helena said.
At the beginning of September, Helena has shared on Instagram a group photo with his children.
At the end of July, the court decided that Helena Koivu must move out of her home in Edina, Minnesota and also hand over the keys to the car she was using to Miko. This was a condition for him to receive the remaining approximately $196,000, i.e. approximately 180,000 euros, of the total amount specified in the marriage contract.
Stop reported in 2018 that Mikko Koivu bought a beach plot in Kakskerra in 2015 for 1.15 million euros. A villa and a summer cottage were built on the plot.
