Heleen van Royen denounces Maarten van Rossem’s rude criticism of Eva Jinek’s pregnancy. She actually finds it incomprehensible. “I like to cry.”
Eva Jinek is pregnant again four and a half years after the birth of her son Pax. Very happy news, but Maarten van Rossem is critical about the timing. He thinks that there will soon be too big an age difference between Pax and his brother or sister. “I think she should have been a little quicker.”
To cry
The fragment in which Maarten criticizes the timing of Eva’s pregnancy is highlighted on YouTube by the creator of the podcast. ‘Jinek starts very late with second child: ‘She should have been there sooner’, it says above. The observant news media then take over.
Incomprehensible, says Heleen van Royen. She tweets: “If you had told me, in 1987, when I graduated from the School of Journalism, that the profession was going to look like this, I would have laughed very hard. Now I feel like crying.”
Mind era
A mister Jan-Dirk understands Heleen’s objection, but also finds it hypocritical. “We live in an age of opinion. You’re doing well, aren’t you? Haven’t seen you on TV that much in ages.”
Heleen says: “If you hear me give an opinion on the timing of pregnancy of a TV presenter – fun fact: you can’t time that – then you can call me on your mat.”
Ugly things
Columnist Hester Zitvast, the rising star of Woman, thinks Maarten’s statements are idiotic. “Want to write very ugly things about Maarten van Rossem. If age is suddenly an issue, I also know what to say about him, I think.”
Hester herself gave birth to her fourth child last year, about 21 years after her first. “Sometimes life turns out differently. Never would have thought 44 myself, but it happened due to a combination of circumstances. And it’s also a lot of fun at this age. Maybe even more fun than when I was 23. Oh and the career continues. ?”
Yvonne Coldeweijer also disapproves of Maarten’s statements. She calls it “very inappropriate.”
