Young Ajax did not go further than 1-1 against Telstar. After the game, trainer John Heitinga did not want to speak of a false start to the season for his team, but did think that there could have been more in it.
Just like Heitinga, central defender Kik Pierie also thought that Jong Ajax was entitled to more than one point. “We were the better team. We should have won. But due to sloppiness and dead games, Telstar was able to catch us. They don’t beat us in football, so it’s a shame that it goes wrong in the initial phase,” said Pierie.

FC Volendam
There are persistent rumors that Pierie would be in the interest of FC Volendam. However, the 22-year-old man stopper knows nothing and mainly focuses on as many playing minutes as possible. “I want to gain rhythm. I played little last year and now I play more and more minutes. I don’t want to play in Jong Ajax for a whole year,” says Pierie. “Of course I am open to possibilities. The chance that I will play in Ajax’s first team is not very great. Fortunately, I can still play at Jong Ajax and gain match rhythm.”
