The carnival season always opens with the presentation of the new carnival pin that the real carnivalists proudly pin on. This year it is a special one. Earlier this year, ‘Mermaid from willow wood’ from the HEY Museum in Knokke-Heist was chosen as museum piece of the year. “We saw our opportunity to immortalize that mermaid on a pin,” says Prince Gevy, chairman of the Court of Princes.
