Heir to NFL icon Tom Brady threatened with bankruptcy with the Patriots

Mac Jones has failed to grow into NFL legend Tom Brady’s footsteps in two seasons. The quarterback even has to worry about his place as a starting quarterback in the future.

During the week, reporters wanted to know from Bill Belichick if Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe would have to fight it out for regular training camps. The head coach of the New England Patriots did not want to commit himself in this regard.

“Everyone gets a chance to play,” Belichick said reluctantly. According to the coach, as long as the performance in training is good, every player in the squad will have a chance on the field.

Mac Jones would have to work very hard in the coming weeks and months to defend his place in the starting lineup. The playcaller posted a disappointing 84.8 quarterback rating last season. His 14 thrown touchdowns also faced eleven interceptions.

After Jones was injured in week four, Zappe stepped in, who was able to record two wins as a starter. From the seventh day Jones finally took over again for the rest of the season, which ended prematurely without entering the playoffs.

Team owner backs NFL star

Due to his weak performances, Jones should no longer be undisputed internally. Team owner Robert Kraft obviously still believes in the qualities of the 24-year-old and broke a lance for him at the annual league meeting.

“I’m a fan of Mac Jones,” Kraft clarified in a media session. “He came to us as a rookie and had to play straight. He led us from the start, did a solid job and took us to the playoffs.”

However, the owner of the New England Patriots indirectly blamed the coaching staff for the mistakes of the previous season.

“Last season we tried various experiments that obviously didn’t work for him. This offseason we’re making changes again to put him in a better position,” promised Kraft.
