Heiner Backhaus is the new coach of the regional soccer team BFC Dynamo. The club announced this on Thursday.
The 40-year-old actually already had an agreement with the North Rhine-Westphalian Regionalliga relegated Sportfreunde Lotte, which was canceled on Wednesday.
“Of course we are disappointed that this cooperation does not come about. Nevertheless, we respect Heiner Backhaus’ decision and wish him all the best for the future,” Lotte said in a statement.

At BFC, Backhaus will succeed Christian Benbennek. The champions of the Northeast Regional Football League announced on Tuesday that the collaboration with Benbennek was ending.
The GDR serial champions missed out on promotion to the 3rd division last weekend despite a 2-1 win at North champions VfB Oldenburg, as they lost the first leg 2-0 at their own stadium.
