Heikki Paasonen on the challenge of his family life: “I try to fix it at home”

Heikki Paasonen40, is not tired, though The Voice of Finland filming continued late into the night. According to Konkarijuontaja, the upcoming season will be the funniest in TVOF history, with the new star coaches Arttu Wiskari and Sanni entertain the people with their humor.

There is also something new this season: Paasonen will host the program this time Jaana Pelkonen with. The duo has collaborated, for example, in connection with the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005–2007. Paasose is happy to work with his friend again.

– After all, Jaana is a super professional and it’s fun to have her from the dark side of politics back to the limelight of entertainment. We have been friends all these years and have seen each other in our free time, he tells Iltalehte at the program’s press conference.

However, the pair of presenters have yet to see what their dynamic is like today. The reason is that in the current filming phase they have not yet been seen on the same stage.

– Jaana is more on the hijacking side, while I work on the public side. So we have hosted the program without meeting each other at all, but at the latest in live broadcasts, he states.

Life in marriage

Paasonen married the mother of his 2-year-old child, Marita Alatalo with. According to the presenter’s own words, they had an “old-fashioned barn wedding” with traditional “Finnish romance”.

– It was really nice to get married and celebrate with family and friends. Money was pretty tight after getting married, but that hole has been overcome now, he admits with a little laugh.

Paasonen feels that nothing in their lives has changed with marriage.

– I would say that in modern times, a child and a bank loan bind people more than marriage. This was just the icing on the cake.

The married couple did not have an actual honeymoon because, according to Paasonen, a small child limits their travel somewhat. The situation was soon resolved, and the couple went on a mini-vacation to Spain.

– I don’t know if you can call it a honeymoon, but we went to Lanzarote with both parents. In other words, we got as many caregivers as possible for our child, Paasonen says with a little laugh.

– At some point, a trip should be developed. But it may take a while for us to get to the honeymoon properly, he says right after.

According to Paasonen, their family life has otherwise been very normal. According to the man, he and his wife strive to share the work equally. However, the presenter admits that it has not always been successful because of his work.

– It’s not worth keeping an Excel table. My work sometimes physically takes me away for longer periods of time. But I always try to fix it at home as much as I can. On the other hand, sometimes I can be at home quite a lot – it’s a bit of a wave movement with us, Paasonen opens.

– Flexibility is probably the number one thing here, he concludes.
