Heikki Kovalainen would like to drive three or four World Championship races.
Heikki Kovalainen, 42, rally racing is not ending, on the contrary. Kovalainen, who won the Japanese rally series championship for the second time in a row, will also drive in Japan next season.
Like last year, this season ends with the World Cup in Japan. For next year, Kovalainen has even bigger plans.
– Next year I will drive in the Japanese rally series and in the final race of the Japanese World Cup. The EC calendar has not been published yet, but the goal is to participate in a few World Cup competitions during the season – maybe three to four, Kovalainen revealed on Thursday in Helsinki.
The former F1 driver’s background is influenced by the Secto Automotive team, in whose ranks he has driven in the rally SM series.
– We have maintained the theme of sustainable development because it is important to Secto. We drive with “electric gasoline”, even if it is not necessary in Finland. In addition, our cars have fossil-free lubricants.
– We will try to take the message of the green transition and sustainable development to the World Series in the future. I know that there is also a strong will to raise that theme.
Behind the wheel of Toyota?

Kovalainen was already on site with the Secto team at the Central European World Rally Championship last weekend. He still refuses to reveal which car he will drive next season.
According to IL’s information, Kovalainen will get a Toyota Yaris Rally 2 car next year.
As expected, Kovalainen is more comfortable in asphalt rallies. Even this season, there was a Škoda Fabia below.
– My main goal is not to run low times or win races. This kind of rally program with a different theme at its core suits me just fine.
