Heidenheim professional Lennard Maloney predicts the 18th matchday of the Bundesliga on Transfermarkt and sees a win for his team at home against VfL Wolfsburg. That’s hardly surprising, but it’s also not unlikely given FCH’s strong home record. With another three points, the von der Brenz team would jump to fifth place in the home table, past BVB. With Leverkusen, Bayern and Stuttgart winning, BVB cannot reduce the gap to the top three despite a 3-1 win in Cologne. But that has the side effect that the Leipzig team loses ground because of Maloney’s predicted defeat against Leverkusen and sees Borussia draw level on points. BVB also takes the opportunity to keep the Frankfurt team, who won in Darmstadt, at bay.
Down in the table, the situation for Darmstadt and Cologne looks increasingly bleak because of their next defeats. And Mainz also continues to lose ground in the six-point game against Union Berlin. According to Maloney, the Köpenickers won 2-1 and thus increased the gap between the relegation zone and VfL Bochum, who then slipped to 15th place, to seven points (note: the game between Mainz and Union was canceled on Thursday).
