Residents of the Heerlen district of Welten, where about 252 households have been without gas for two days, have to be patient.
According to an Enexis spokesperson, it can take a few more days before all gas connections in the district are working again.
Engineer Lelystraat
Grid operator Enexis aims to have at least restored all connections in the Ingenieur Lelystraat by Monday evening. According to Enexis, most households in this street are affected. In the following days, work will be carried out in the other streets in the district. “It will take one to two days for these households,” said a spokesperson. The company emphasizes that it may take longer if the repair work is not successful.
Enexis employees are currently working on venting the gas pipes. Gas cannot flow through it if there is still water and/or air in the pipes.

Leakage
Saturday morning there was a leak in a water pipe, which also damaged a gas pipe. As a result, a lot of water ended up in the gas pipeline: “With so-called vacuum trucks, the water is sucked out of the pipes. That is a big job, since the water is not located in a central place, but has spread over a larger area”, writes the network operator in a letter to affected residents.
Take a warm shower and order food
Because hundreds of households have been without hot water for days, the municipality of Heerlen has announced that affected residents can take a shower at sports park A Gene Bek. This is possible on Monday from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm.
Finally, Enexis states in the letter that customers who are still unable to cook on Monday evening may order food from Thuisbezorgd.nl at the expense of the network operator.
