Heavy weather conditions play tricks on Telstar goalkeeper Houweling: “Unfortunate”

A downright frustrating evening for Telstar and for goalkeeper Joey Houweling. The closing post had to concede five goals against leader Willem II. “A very difficult match for a goalkeeper,” said Houweling.

Due to the strong wind and heavy rain, Houweling encountered serious problems a number of times. The 23-year-old goalkeeper was surprised, especially with the first goal, a corner kick from Nick Doodeman that fell straight in. “A number of agreements did not go well at that corner,” Houweling defends himself. “But you are 1-0 behind and that is sad.”

“My matches are good. They are satisfied with my development”

An interesting detail was that Houweling’s competitor was back in the selection today for the first time in a long time. Ronald Koeman Jr. is back from his wrist injury and was on the bench. “I am busy with myself. I have helped the team. My matches are good. They are satisfied with my development,” said Houweling about the approaching competition.

Telstar coach Mike Snoei: “We have been punished” – NH Sport

Mike Snoei saw that his team, with the exception of the first half hour, often fell short against leader Willem II. “We were punished for the transition. They give you the ball, but when they win it you can see that they are number one in the competition.”

Telstar’s next match is on Monday, December 4. Snoei’s team then travels to Sports Complex Zoudenbalch for the showdown with Jong FC Utrecht.
