Heavy traffic on roads in the run-up to Pentecost, serious accident on A15 | Inland

The spokeswoman said that it is busy with holiday traffic on the roads in the east, such as the A50 and A73. Traffic also has to take delays into account on the roads from Utrecht to the south.

It is not only busier on the road due to holiday traffic. There have also been several accidents. For example, there is a lot of delay around the Gorinchem junction due to a serious accident. Several connecting roads are closed. Several vehicles are involved in the accident, including a truck. Many emergency services are on site, including the ambulance. The road will not be reopened until around 10 p.m.

The ANWB expects the traffic on the road to increase even further and that the peak will be reached around 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Most traffic jams will be resolved around 7 p.m. In 2019, before corona, there was a 900 kilometer traffic jam on the eve of the Whitsun weekend.

For the rest of the weekend, traffic jams are expected in the direction of events, theme parks and outlet centers. There are, for example, the Whitsun races on the Zandvoort circuit, an Eleven Cities Cycling Tour in Friesland and the North Sea Regatta in Scheveningen.

Also Monday, on Whit Monday, the ANWB expects a lot of traffic on the road, then by returning holidaymakers. It will be especially slow driving towards Germany on the A1, A12 and A67. In the course of Monday evening it will be busy in the center of the country and from Zeeland.

Last Wednesday, before the Ascension weekend, the busiest evening rush of the year was observed, with more than 1120 kilometers of slow-moving traffic. This means that the number of traffic jams around Ascension Day was comparable to that in the time before corona.
