Heavy traffic jams on the A1 and A7 due to accidents

There is a heavy traffic jam on the A7 between the Avenhorn and Purmerend-Noord exits. Last night a car crashed into the guardrail, causing damage. There were also many delays on the A1 near Naarden after an accident involving several cars.

A motorist lost control last night and crashed into the guardrail in the central reservation near Oosthuizen. This morning around 8 a.m. it caused more than an hour’s delay and a traffic jam of about 8 kilometers between Hoorn and Zaanstad. Delays are also increasing in the other direction.

Rijkswaterstaat is carrying out emergency repairs and has closed the left lane on both sides. As a result, there is only one lane available in both directions, which also requires slower driving.

An accident involving several vehicles occurred near Naarden on the A1 between Amersfoort and Amsterdam. Several emergency services are present, which is why the right lane is closed. Here too, the delay is more than an hour.

A police spokesperson said that several cars collided. This would involve five cars. “There doesn’t seem to be any injuries so far,” she says. “But just to be sure, there is an ambulance on site.” Some cars are badly damaged and will have to be towed away. Rijkswaterstaat expects the road to be open again around 9 a.m.
